9 March 2018 by DSR

“Twelve projects in this area will get a piece of $1.4 billion in state money for renewable energy.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced the awards Friday at New York University with former Vice President Al Gore. Cuomo said it is the largest commitment to renewable energy by a state to date.
Nopanies with the New York Solar Energy Industries Association, was pleased to hear the state’s investment.
“This is the first instance we have of larger scale solar moving forward. We were very happy to see that,” said Kemp, co-chair of the association’s policy committee. Kemp also works as the director of policy for Cypress Creek Renewables, which will receive state money for some of its projects.
NYSEIA represents more than 300 companies across the state.
The next step is making sure the projects actually happen, by going through through local permitting processes and other necessary steps.
“These projects still need to come to fruition on the ground, in terms of they’re in various stages of maturity,” Kemp said. “Announcing the contract doesn’t mean that they’re done.””
